  • Would you like to win a free Friday spirit shirt for every football game this year?

  • Do you like to play cornhole?

  • Do you have a friend that could be your partner in a tournament?


Well, sign up at lunch for the 1st annual Rebel Cornhole Tournament. This will be held during all lunch shifts and there is space for 32 teams of 2 for each shift. The tournament will begin on Monday and finish on Friday with the Championship match. The bracket will be posted outside Mrs. Knox’s room. Come by Mrs. Knox’s room to sign up.

Club News

 

These clubs are now accepting applications from those who are interested in joining the club AND from those who were members of the club last year. 


 

  • Student Council -  To apply, come to the meeting on Tuesday, Sept 5 at 6:30 in the library. See Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Nix.

 

  • Biology Club - To apply, bring a donation for the local animal shelter before Sept 1st. See Mrs. Knox

 

  • Junior Civitans -To apply, come to a meeting  Tuesday, August 29 at 3:15 in room 6206. See Mrs. Beach 

 

  • Key Club - To apply, fill out an application. Applications are available outside room 3103. They are due by Sept. 5th. See Mrs. Leslie Jones

 

  • Interact -If you want your name on the ballot, bring an item to donate to Bawcomville Hope. 

  • If you are a senior, bring 3 cans of ravioli

  • If you are a junior, bring a box of cereal

  • If you are sophomore, bring 3 cans of soup

  • If you are a freshman, bring spaghetti noodles and sauce

 

Bring your items before Tuesday. The items go to Mrs. Knox

 

  • Amateur Radio -  No application needed. Just attend a meeting Tuesday right after school in the STEM building. See Mrs. Cavin.

  • Fellowship of Christian Students - No application is needed to become a member. Just show up. Meetings start this coming Wednesday at 7:15 in the New Gym. All are welcome.

 

  • RebelNation - To join, purchase an athletic pass or bring $3 to Mrs. Pickering, Mrs. Nelson, or Mr Taylor.

 

  • FCSS - No application is needed. Just show up on Mondays at 7:15 in Room 1113.


Board Game Club - No application is needed. Attend a meeting Wednesday, August 30th after school in the library.

Sports News

 

Bayou Jamb is tonight at 8 pm in Rebel Stadium. We play Ruston.

 

Tennis tryouts are Tuesday at the tennis courts. You need paperwork completed before you can tryout. See Coach Geen in the Old gym.

School News

 

Driver’s Ed - Coach Osborne has a class coming up. It starts right after Labor Day. See Coach Osborne in the PE gym or cafeteria during lunch.

 

The ASVAB career inventory test will be given Thursday, September 28th. You have to sign up before Sept 8th with Mrs. Williams or any US History teacher. 

 

Yearbook pictures are Tuesday and Wednesday. Ask your ELA teacher for your day and time.

 

Athletic Passes are on sale. They get you into all home games of any sport during the regular season. See Coach Walker or Coach McDuffie

 

WMHS has a care closet. If you need something from the closet, you must fill out a request form. See Miss Boutwell, Mrs. Walker or Mrs. Johnson for more information.

 

The Rebel Branch of the Ouachita Valley Federal Credit Union is seeking some student workers. You need to be detail oriented and have strong communication skills along with a will to learn. See Mrs. Averitt.

  • Do you know another language?

  • Do you want to take a test to receive your world language credits for graduation?


Well, the AAPPL (apple) test will be given Monday, Sept 25. The cost of the test is $20 and you must register by September 18.

 

Depending upon your test score, you could receive up to 4 high school credits and qualify for the Louisiana Seal of Biliteracy.
